About

The Illinois Center for Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders (ICFASD) is a resource offering various services, supports and resources to:
  • Parents of children exposed to or suspected of being exposed to alcohol prenatally 
  • Adults exposed to alcohol prenatally 
  • Professionals and caregivers who provide services 
  • Advocates and clinicians interested in learning about FASD, or doing research in the field. 
The center addresses needs identified by an Illinois Department of Human Services’ survey of families affected by FASD as well as those who provide services to them.


We provide: 


Diagnostics
  • Screening and assessment services for FASD, followed by referral for diagnosis 


Therapy
  • Neurofeedback therapy with Z-Score training 
  • Skills achievement groups for individuals diagnosed with an FASD in three age groups 
  • Individual therapy 
  • Couples therapy 
  • Family therapy 


Counseling services 
  • Consultation services to parents, schools, providers and employers on issues related to their specific issues. 
  • Sibling groups for siblings of an individual with an FASD 
  • Dad’s group for fathers of children with an FASD 


Training
  • Educational seminars on FASD for parents, providers and professionals 
  • FASD training sessions

  • Therapy practicum placements for master’s level students (Counseling and Social Work)
